Space Trek

mission robotics

Your cosmic adventure awaits you!

Will unmanned robotic missions be able to detect microscopic life-forms that might be lurking below the surface of Mars?

Participate in a two or three day robotic mission to Mars and help NASA scientists unravel the mysteries of the red planet and prepare it for habitation. Prepare for an extraordinary voyage that will ignite your curiosity and propel you into the captivating world of robotics and programming.

Mission Robotics

Two or three day robotics camps that teach students about programming, robotics and collaboration.

  • Introduction to programming logic
  • Basic and advanced programming concepts (C, C++)
  • Knowledge reinforcement through challenges
  • Significant teamwork
  • Innovative and critical thinking

Take Home an ExoNaut

Students have the option to take home a robot for an additional $90 USD when booked with the camp.  Students will receive the ExoNaut robot they use in class plus the additional sensor expansion kit. The robot kit comes with:

  • CoreX Controller
  • Encoder Motors
  • 4-Channel Line Follower
  • Ultrasonic Sensor
  • RGB LEDs

Camp Details

Programming Logic

Students will learn the importance of programming logic and the power of true/false conditions.  Including making choices with if/then statements and performing repetition with loops

Knowledge Reinforcement Through Challenges

Students will work as a team to complete coding challenges, with extra points for creativity

Basic and Advanced Programming Concepts

Learn coding, from if/then statements to experimenting with various robotic sensors to win engaging challenges.

Team Collaboration & Leadership

In groups of four, students will work together to win a coding challenges and compete in  competition on our simulated Martian surface.

Block or C++ Based Programming

Depending on participant preference, students may learn coding through a block or C++ based environment.

Innovative and Critical Thinking

Students are challenged to solve tasks in unconventional ways, promoting creativity in problem-solving.

  • All students, along with the experience of a lifetime, will receive certificates of excellence upon program completion. The winning team will receive medals commemorating their success.
  • In addition to class activities, all students will learn about the history of the U.S. space program and visit several attractions in the KSC Visitor Complex.  Including the Space Shuttle Atlantis, Gateway, IMAX movies and other attractions based on camp duration.

COSMIC CHALLENGE

Learn programming concepts and challenges in preparation for the Mars surface mission. The final challenge unfolds on our expansive 16ft x 16ft Martian surface replica, featuring iconic landmarks like Olympus Mons and Schiaparelli Crater and other craters and valleys.

With A surface map, computer for programming and a wireless camera as your source of vision – explore our mock Martian surface like real NASA engineers, by remotely guiding your robot exactly to designated target zones for precision sample collection
