FAQs for Campus Penn Programs

Why Participate in a Program through Campus Penn?

Campus Penn programs are coordinated through Penn HUB, a government-endorsed initiative that is a joint operation of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania/Pennsylvania State System of Higher Education (PASSHE) and the Association of Independent Colleges and Universities of Pennsylvania (AICUP). Penn HUB establishes and maintains strategic alliances with strong educational partners in India.

Why Study in Pennsylvania?

Pennsylvania is in the top 5 in the U.S. for the number of institutions of higher learning.  Geographically, Commonwealth institutions are within driving distance from major Eastern U.S. cities including New York, Washington, D.C., Philadelphia, Pittsburgh, and Baltimore. Pennsylvania has an abundance of tourist attractions and recreational opportunities, along with a lower cost of living than neighboring states like New York, New Jersey, and Maryland.

Do I need a Travel Visa?

Yes. If you do not already have a visa you will need to apply for one. Atlantis Erudition & Travel Services will help you with the visa application process.

What other Costs Might There Be?

If you do not already have a visa you will need to apply for one. Atlantis Erudition & Travel Services will help you with the visa application process. You will also be responsible for incidental trip expenses such as the purchase of snacks, personal items, souvenirs, and the like.

Who will supervise the students from India during a summer camp program?

Teacher chaperones from India schools will accompany minors on each trip. On some trips a tour guide from Atlantis Erudition & Travel Services might also travel with the group.  When students are on Pennsylvania campuses they will interact with and be supervised by campus faculty and staff, including trained residence hall advisors.

Where will students and teacher chaperones stay during a program?

Students and teacher chaperones will usually live in the same campus residence halls where U.S. students reside.  Trained residence hall staff also live onsite and are available.   In some cases accommodations may be in an off-campus hotel or other housing arranged by the university. Consult the specific program brochure for information.   During educational field trips or tourist excursions the group may stay at a hotel; if so, hotel costs should already have been included in the total program cost.

Where will the students and teacher chaperones eat during a summer camp?

During the on-campus portion of the program students and teacher chaperones will eat at campus dining hall facilities.

Can special dietary needs be accommodated?

Yes, when you register for the program you can provide information about special dietary needs that will be passed on to the program director at the host campus.

Will students earn college credits during a Campus Penn program?

Most summer camps are too short in duration and are not designed to earn college credits, though they usually will award certificates of completion. A few may carry U.S. college credits; if so, that will be indicated in the program brochure.
